Independent Research Consultant with a Music Information Retrieval Specialty

I began MIR research at Ohio State in its Computational Ethno-musicology Lab in 2000 during my undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University. I went on to a Masters in Music in Music Technology MIR focus at McGill University under Ichiro Fujinaga. I completed 2.5 years towards a doctorate at Waikato University towards a Music Recommendation based systtem with both social and audio components, ultimately leaving for Silicon Valley. In Silicon Valley, I have now worked 3 years, first at Gracenote as a MIR researcher / product development specialist then at Rdio as a research consultant.

I am interested in keeping a pulse of the state of the art in Music Information Retrieval and will be keeping tabs, even if only at a distance.
